Taking the Supreme sheep championship at the English Winter Fair for the first time was John Hall & family, Dalston, Cumbria with the pedigree champion pair of home-bred Beltex by a Northcrop sire, weighing 80kg shown by Johnny Aiken & David MacTaggart. The Hall team also won the single lamb championship with a 45kg homebred lamb.
Judge, Steve Gibbons said the champions were outstanding and exactly what he was looking for in butcher's lambs, he later bought the pair for £310 per head (£7.56 per kg)
For the second year in succession the Overall carcass championship was won by David & Linda Wadland, Aston Le Walls with a carcase weighing 23.2kg, graded E3L and sold for 11.20 Pounds per kg £260 to Wellcroft Farm Meats Grindon. The Wadland's also won the live/dead Overall and Reserve championships.
