Charity Golf Day in aid of Cancer Research.

The Charity Golf Day, held at Matfen Hall Hotel, Matfen, Northumberland on Wednesday 8 June raised £800 for Cancer Research UK which added to the £600 raised from the Society Raffle brings the total so far to £1,400.

The weather was perfect for good golfing day and the four teams who entered all came ready and raring to go and the competitive edge was evident as the day progressed and were eager to see who won the Texas Scramble Team challenge and individual challenges for Nearest the pin on the 17th Hole, Nearest the pin the 10th Hole and Nearest the Pin in two on the 18th Hole.

The four teams entered were Beltex Sheep Society – led by John Barclay with Graham Burke, Mark Jennings and James McGarva; Allflex Tag Company – led by Kevin Parker with Paul Dalton, Rees Warburton and Lee Procter; Anchor Logs – led by Paul Barker with Joe Woodhead, Charles Kirkpatrick and John Barker; Rob’s Raiders – led by Robert Smith, Andrew Thornton, Steve Charlton and Arthur Calder.

Results:
Winning Team was Allflex Tag Company and Kevin Parker said “thank you for inviting us, we’ve had great time on a great course” they went away with a bottle of whisky each and voucher for a BBQ Box from Highland Wagyu
Second: Beltex Sheep Society who also went away with bottle of whisky each and voucher from Matfen Hall for another game of golf for which they were very pleased.
Third: Rob’s Raiders – Golf umbrella each from Simmental Cattle Society
Fourth: Golf Balls each from Harrison and Hetherington
Nearest the pin the 10th Hole – won by Joe Woodhead, from the Anchor Logs team winning a 2hr gliding experience from Wooler Gliding School
Nearest the pin on the 17th Hole – won by Paul Dalton from the Allflex team winning a limited edition bottle of vodka from Lakes Distillery given by Sarah Harvey Design
Nearest the Pin in two on the 18th Hole – won by Kevin Parker from the Allflex team winning an Overnight Bed & Breakfast stay for two, plus afternoon pamper for two in Aqua Vitae Spa at Matfen Hall, given by Matfen Hall

It was a fantastic day and one we plan on repeating in the future so don't miss out next time. Thank you to all who were present on the day, to Matfen Hall for looking after us well to all the sponsors of the prizes.

One item in particular has been held over for the Annual General Meeting Weekend Charity Auction late in the year, this is a pair of racing jodhpurs donated by Andrew Thornton, National Hunt jockey which has been signed by various jockeys and the names of the horses on which they have won.
