Melton Mowbray

3rd September 2022

A shearling ram from Mandy Friend and Emma car led the offering of Beltex at Melton Mowbray Market’s Sheep Spectacular sale on Saturday, 3 September, when Xana Genisis was knocked down for 850gns.

This son of Woodwick Chino, which now resides in Belgium, is bred from an imported Van de Witte Hoeve ewe from the duo’s Xana Flock near Hay Hill, Ham, Deal. Genisis found a new home near Chiddingstone Hoath, Edenbridge, with T Lyle and Partners.

Selling for the shared second top price of 700gns was Anthony Neaves’ Peachy View Golden Balls from Pinnock Lane, Staplehurst, Tonbridge. Selling to JB Thompson, Stainby, Grantham, who bought all five of Anthony’s shearlings, Golden Balls is by Ballycreelly Eleventhirtynine while his dam is Peachy View Esso, a Bishops Commander daughter.

Matching that 700gns was the dearest of the females, Stonedge Chamomile ET from Tina Blythe and Jack Gratton’s TJ’s Flock from Main Road, Langrick, Boston. Originally bred by Matt Prince, this 2017-born ewe’s pedigree features Stonedge Beelzebub and Headlind Popstar, a daughter of The Rustler. Forking out the cash was Ali Jackson of the Tiptop Flock near Annan.

Ali saw his own Tiptop Grey sell to AL and AR Wolfe, Broughton Road, Stoney Stanton, for 680gns. Bred from the Kingledores Wigglesworth daughter, Tiptop Diva Dancer, she is by Matt’s Front Runner.

Leading the ram lamb entry at 520gns was Ali’s Tiptop Half Pint ET, an Ardstewart Fire Balls son bred from Procters Eternal Flame, herself by Tiree Caster. He heads to Gaddesden Road, Hemel Hampstead, with AT Ivory.

The Wolfes paid a further 420gns for Peachy View Glitter Ball which is this time by Woodies Exterminator and out of the Airyolland Commander-sired Peachy View Emu.

A large entry of ewe lambs peaked at 280gns for Applejack Honor ET from Tom Mawer and Graham Baker. Selling to B Kirk, Chesnut Avenue, Kirkby in Ashfield, this Airyolland Choco daughter is out of Jewitt Fame & Fortune, herself by Arkle DJ.
