A pair of shearling rams from Sean Daly’s Glenview Flock from Glenforan Road, Gortin, headed up the Irish Beltex Breeders Club Sale at Richard Beattie’s Omagh centre on Friday, 23 September, when the duo sold for 1000gns and 500gns apiece.

First up and selling to sister and brother pair, Elizabeth and William McAllister, of the Artnagullion Flock on Parkgate Road, Kells, for that 1000gns was the Male and Supreme Champion from the pre-sale show, Glenview Goldie. This Ballinakill Fagan son is bred from Glenview Emma, herself by Sheephaven Casonova.

Hitting 500gns was the similarly bred Glenview Gaffer, again by the Ballinakill Fagan ram and out of a Sheephaven Casonova daughter, this time Glenview Euro. He sold to Tom Henderson, Clooney Road, County Londonderry.

In a good run for Sean, he also received 380gns from Messrs Armstrong for the similarly bred Glenview Gladiator.

Shearling rams also reached 340gns for the dearest from John Donaghy’s Coolough pen from Coolahara Road, Loughmacrory. Selling to the team at Cookstown Farm, Rochdale Road, Dungannon, Coolough Gone West is full of home breeding, being by Coolough Finn McCool and out of Coolough Diva Doll, a Coolough Bungle Inthejungle daughter.

Matching that 340gns was the dearest of the ram lambs, Pointhouse Houston ET from Michael and Kile Diamond, Carhill Road, Garvagh. A result of the popular flush between Murrays Expert and the Belvoir View Cadillac Jack-sired Artnagullion Enghantress, Houston sold to Donald Fleming, Ballykeel Road, Newtownstewart.

Females peaked at 320gns when Stuart Graham received that for his Riverview Helena from Doogary Road, Omagh. This Glenkeen Ghost Rider daughter is out of Riverview Flora, herself by Tweeddale Dynamite.

Averages: 15 shearling rams, £389; four ram lambs, £263; three shearling ewes, £245.
