Welshpool Beltex top at 3,000gns
Trade was up on the year in the Beltex Society’s Welsh Premier sale in Welshpool where prices peaked at 3,000gns and another four lots made 2,000gns or more.
Sale leader was Teg King Pin, the February born single ram lamb from Tegwyn Jones, Felingwm, Carmarthen. By Gyffin Dexter out of Sinclair’s Fantasia, it sold to W.G. Ingram, Pitcaple, Aberdeen.
It was a Gyffin bred ram from Edward Cyril Lloyd Lewis, Gyffin, Conwy, which jointly led the shearling prices at 2,200gns when Gyffin Jimbo by Clary Dumfries sold to R.and B. James, Fishguard.
At the same price, Glantre Jethro from M. and H. Owens, Llandysul, sold to R.M. Cornforth, Tadcaster. By Lurg Gullit, it is out of an Ardstewart Comanche-sired Glantre ewe. At 2,000gns, E.H. Pennie, Llandysul, bought Glantre Jaws, a Hackney Gossip son out of an Artnagullion Dupe-sired Glantre dam.
T.Jones, Nantgaredig went to 2,000gns for Smart Ass Jack Flash from D.E.Owen, Rowen, Conwy. By Ainstable Factotum, it is out of an Ardstewart Aristocrat dam. Earlier at 1,900gns, Castle Rock Joker from G.W. Jones, Llanfair Caereinion, sold to V.M. and W.R.S. Lewis, Rhayader. The Glantre Flyer son is out of Bryngroes Ceris, an Artnagullion Bushwacker daughter.
There were two bids of 1,850gns, both for Frongoy shearling rams bred by D.G. Jones, Aberystwyth. The first, Frongoy Joey by Glantre Geronimo, sold to D.A. Thomas, Penybont, Carmarthen, while Frongoy James by Aviemore Explorer out of a Rathbone ewe, was bought by S. Lane, Newtown, Powys. The same buyer also paid 1,800gns for a Michel James-bred Duhonw shearling which was entered by Titanium flock owners W.J. and R.M. Jerman, Builth Wells.
H.W. Jones, Denbigh paid 1,700gns for Gyffin Jump Man by Gyffin Dexter out of an Artnagullion ewe, while at the same money, H.B.J. Farms, Rhayader took Newtown vendor D. Owen’s shearling Dysynni Juggernauht by the 6,500gns Antnagullion Eddy.
D.E.Owen topped the shearling ewes at 1,100gns when his Smart Ass Jelly Baby by Clary Dumfries out of a Woodies dam, sold to J. Bell, Carluke, Lanarkshire. Next up at 1,000gns was a Gyffin shearling by Ardstewart Aristocrat selling to C.R. Parry, Beaumaris.
