Shearling rams sold to 1,600gns and shearling ewes to 720gns in the Welsh Beltex Club’s sale in Ruthin.
Sale leader was Geirn Johnny Cash from Cennydd Owen, Llanerchymedd, Anglesey, which, had been a red rosette winner, and sold to S. O. Harper, Bangor, while the 720gns shearling ewe Gyffin Jelly Baby, was from Edward Cyril Lloyd Lewis, Gyffin, Conwy and sold to C. R. Parry, Llangoed, Beaumaris.
Second top price for shearling rams was Cogail Joe from D. G. and C. Parry, Beaumaris, Anglesey selling at 1,500gns to P. Curran, Talgarth, Brecon. Then at 1,050gns and 1,000gns respectively were two more from Geirn. J. Wynne, Abergele, bought Geirn Jacob and Messrs Jones, Betwys-y-Coed, bought Geirn James.
Another from the same flock, Geirn Jethro sold at 950gns and another two at 900gns apiece were Jamie and Joseph, and then two at 850gns and 800gns.
At 750gns, H.W. Williams, Ganrafon, Corwen went for Bodorgan, Anglesey vendors W. P. and O. Evans’ Bodwrdin Jack The Lad.
Next up was the same vendors’ Myna Jumping Jack Flash, one of their own breeding and selling to Mrs N. E. Lloyd, Llanfwrog, Ruthin. A 550gns bid by O.S. Williams, Llannefydd, Denbigh then secured Gyffin Jaguar from Mr Lewis.
It was back to Geirn’s Cennydd Owen, for the top price of 420gns in the Non-MV shearling ewe section when he sold to G.W. Hill and D.W. Roberts, Bontuchel, Ruthin. Another from the same flock sold at 400gns to the same buyers. G. A. Hughes, Holywell also paid 400gns for one from the Sannan flock of C. and O. J. Jones, Llansannan.
