As the Government Guidelines will reduce the volume of buyers being able to attend the sale, below are points Harrison & Hetherington ask for your co-operation in order for the running of Live Sales. This information is correct at the time of printing and is subject to changes in Government Guidelines or Directives regarding the control of the spread of COVID-19.
GENERAL INFORMATION for all parties:
- Potential purchasers MUST REGISTER with Harrison & Hetherington Ltd prior to the sale and again upon entry to the market – tel: 01228 406200 or email: [email protected]
- Please remember that purchaser spaces will be limited, so only ONE person per business will be permitted entry.
- Face coverings are mandatory for all persons entering the mart. These must be worn without exception while in the market including the sales rings and pens.
- 2m social distancing must be observed wherever possible.
- Viewing will be regulated by a one-way system throughout the mart and is to be permitted for registered buyers only. This will be 8am-10.30am on Thursday and Friday (shearling ram days), and 8am-9.30am on Saturday.
- To facilitate the Test and Trace system, all customers/visitors will be required to sign into the market. This process will include a declaration that they have not been in contact with anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19, nor are displaying symptoms personally.
- No children under 16 years old will be able to attend the sales and this must be strictly adhered to as entry will be refused.
- Pregnant ladies must not attend the sale.
- Vendors – Cooling Fans not permitted in the pen area.
- Hand sanitiser stations will be available throughout the mart; however, it is strongly recommended that both consignors and buyers have an adequate personal supply and to use it regularly.
- Please follow instructions from market staff and security staff. A private security firm will be in attendance to assist H&H in ensuring social distancing is observed wherever possible.
- Strictly no private videoing/broadcasting on Social media, or phones etc in the pens or ring
- If you are unable or do not wish to attend the mart but would like to bid on animal(s), then the auctioneers will faithfully execute commission bids for buyers. Please contact them and put your instructions in writing 48 hours in advance of the sale. Alternatively, you can arrange to make a telephone bid during the sale.
Everyone is encouraged to register for the online bidding app. This can be used to bid from home, remotely from other areas in the market, or in any of the sales rings.
All buyers attending the sale are strongly encouraged to register for the online bidding app as they may have been drawn for a position in the virtual ring in the ballot

EXTRA INFORMATION FOR ALL VENDORS:
- Please adhere to the Timetable of Events for delivery of stock to the market, society inspection, etc – see page 6 of the sale catalogue.
- Two people per consignment/flock will be permitted access to the market pennage area. They will be able to care for the consignment(s) forward for sale, also prepare the sheep for the sale ring.
- Only one person will be allowed to show the animals in the sale ring.
- At all times Vendors must adhere to the social distancing regulations, particularly whilst the society inspection procedures are taking place and also whilst buyers are viewing the sale sheep.
- Only one vendor will be able to accompany their consignment to the sale ring (along with one member of the H&H staff) and then return them back to their pen.
- A buyers viewing period of the sheep – 8am-10.30am on Thursday and Friday (shearling ram days), and 8am-9.30am on Saturday – will be regulated by a one-way system through the market pennage area and is permitted for registered buyers only. If any buyer wishes to revisit the pens to view other stock, they must adhere to the one way system.
- Cooling fans are not permitted in the pens.
- If any media photographer is on site, it will be the responsibility of the vendor to take their sheep to the designated area to get photographs taken.
- Strictly no private videoing/broadcasting on Social media, or phones etc in the pens or ring.
- Please ensure all documentation is provided when you arrive at the market, ie – current Movement Licence and a current Maedi Visna certificate/Health Status report. Any vendor with the incorrect documentation will be refused entry.
- Any vendor wishing to offer sheep for direct Northern Ireland purchase must complete the enclosed form, and must also arrange for your veterinary surgeon to carry out a flock inspection and complete the bottom section of the enclosed form. This form must accompany your sheep to the market.
EXTRA INFORMATION FOR ALL PURCHASERS:

This will be regulated by a one way system through the market pennage area and is permitted for registered buyers only. If any buyer wishes to revisit the pens to view other stock, they must adhere to the one way system.
