Following a meeting of the Beltex Sheep Society Council, concerns have been raised over spiralling costs to the membership. It has therefore been decided that DNA testing of stock rams and flushing ewes will, from 10 August 2022, be voluntary rather than compulsory.

The Council will continue to undertake random DNA and myostatin tests on any animal that is deemed not to conform with the breed standard, or if any concerns are raised.
