A pair of shearling ewes from G Dufosee’s Spectra flock from Longbridge Deverill, Warminster, led the sale of males and females at Frome Livestock Auctioneers’ Frome centre on Friday, 27th September, when they were knocked down for 400gns apiece.

First to sell and heading to Hanning Longford, Salisbury, with K Darling, was the Female Champion, Spectre Dixie. Sired by Freckleton Wolverine, she is out of the Lamberhurst Midas daughter, Charndon Suki.

Matching that 400gns when sold to Archie Hill, Nyland, Cheddar, was the Reserve Female, Spectre Dora, which is again by Freckleton Wolverine and out of a Charndon ewe, this time by Headlind Tofty.

Margaret Heard and John Garland from Wiveliscombe, Taunton, welcomed a top call of 320gns for their second prize shearling ram, Maundown Daniel. This Glantre Arnold son is out of Quarrymount Alannah, an Ardstewart Papillon daughter, and sold to P Harris, Glanvilles Wootton, Sherborne.

Two more Maundown shearlings by Glantre Arnold sold for 300gns each. Selling to P Langdown, Stubhampton, Blandford, was Maundown Dan ET while Maundown David ET sold to MF Deacon, Linwood, Ringwood.

The Male and Supreme Champion, a ram lamb named Fingle Endless from Louise Elworthy, Crockernwell, Exeter, also sold for 300gns. Selling to the team at Highcountry Huntaways, Cucklington, Wincaton, Endless is by Finniness Comic and out of Teign Valley Tight Fit.

The same buyers paid a further 300gns for the Reserve Male and Reserve Supreme, Louise Atkins’ Plantfield Eric from Black Torrington, Beaworthy. This ram lamb is out Plantfield Desmo and out of Teign Valley What A Wopper.
