A buzz about the Sale Ring this year’s seen Vendors and Buyers pleased with bidding fast flowing throughout and a buoyant trade with the majority all finding new homes for the Annual Show & Slae of Beltex Sheep on behalf of Beltex Scotland and the Beltex Sheep Society. With online bidding via MartEye, four were secured online with many others been keenly bid on also through the app.
Topping the Sale at 5,000gns was the 1st Prize Shearling Ram, Male Champion and Overall Champion at the Pre-Sale Show held the evening before, Faughhill Lion King from Grant and Katie Maxwell from Faughhill Farming, Melrose. Sired by the 22,000gns Langlands Jack The Lad who was previously jointly purchased and out of Faughill Gin, a daughter of the privately purchased Heatheryhall Fireman Sam , he sold to the Crowhill flock with Messrs Dunlop, Elmscleugh Farm, Innerwick.
Finn Christie received 4,800gns for his Shearling Ram – Balquhain Lucky Dip. Sired by the 10,000gns Mellor Vale King Kong, and out of Lurg Haggis – a full sister to the 50,00gns Lurg Goliath and also the 45,000gns Lurg Grand Slam, a daughter of the Woodies Explosive. Lucky Dip’s full sister sold just last month for 7,000gns. The final bidder on this Shearling was A Wright, West Lundie, Doune.
Faughill Farming also received 4,400gns for Faughhill Lotus, an ET Brother to the Overall Champion. He sold to R Hall & Sons, Inglewood, Dalston.
Topping the Gimmer section was again from Faughhill Farming with Faughhill Lindisfarne. Out of the same flush as Lion King and Lotus, she stood 1st Prize Gimmer and Female Champion before the hammer fell at 4,000gns to LW Goodfellow, Townfoot Farm, Roberton.
