A super strong show of quality Beltex were on display despite a small number of entries where 25 heads were catalogued and 23 forward. With a sale clearance of 100% clearance, the overall average for the 23 forward was £1068.26 with some activity from online bidding via MartEye. Proof that the best end of stock can always be easily sold and more are encouraged for next year.
Leading trade at 3,200gns was the Pre-Sale’s Reserve Champion – Callacrag Keara consigned by father and son duo, Andrew and Cameron Baillie, Carstairs Mains, Carstairs. Sired by the 8,000gns Wannop’s Firecracker, she is out of the homebred dam, Callacrag Grace, a Lamington Fandango daughter. Due twins to Faughhill Kaiser, the final bidder of this lot was Messrs William Dunlop, Elmscleugh, Innerwick.
The Pre-Sale Champion also came from Andrew and Cameron Baillie, this time their opening entry which realised 2,500gns. Another by Firecracker, this time out of Callacrag Glorious, another Fandango daughter. She sells due a single to Faughhill Kaiser to the judge, Mark Wattie, Mains of Tonley, Alford.
Alfie & Ann Taylor’s Heatheryhall flock are never far away and a top price of 1,800gns for their opening entry – Heatheryhall Kesha. A daughter of the 42,000gns Todhall Hercules, she is out of Heatheyhall Georgina, a daughter of the 60,000gns Buckles Dark Dawn. She sells due Twins to their new purchase, Tullylagan Lord of the Rings to Messrs Goodfellow, Townfoot Farm, Biggar.
Topping the Ewe Lamb trade at 700gns was Faughhill Luverne to Messrs Wallace, Lyonpark, Maybole. She is sired by the 22,000gns Langlands Jack the Lad and out of Faughhill Gin, a daughter of Heatheryhall Fireman Sam.
