Ross-on-Wye
The last entry on offer, shearling ram from Aled Groucott’s Swffryd flock from Hafodyrynys, Crumlin, sold for the top price of 1200gns at the Central Beltex Club’s sale at RG and RB Williams’ Ross-on-Wye centre on Monday, 31 August.
Sired by the 60,000gns Topflite Al Pacino, this natural-born triplet named Swffryd Ello Ello is out of the Ballydown Attorney-sired Swffryd Baby and sold to Andrew Phillips for his Wellmead flock near Soulbury, Leighton Buzzard.
Following on at 600gns when knocked down to Jackie Hibberd, of the Winter flock near Banbury, was Bishops Elgar from Andrew Bishop, Eldersfield, Gloucester. His pedigree features Woodies Watson on to a home-bred ewe by the Belgian import, Ouragan Des Pres de L’Ernard.
Among the females it was Anthony Neaves’ Peachy View Emerald, an Airyolland Commander daughter from the flock at Staplehurst, Tonbridge, that led the entry at 300gns. Selling to Simon Linton, Bodenham, she is out of a home-bred Bishops Broody daughter.
Averages: Four shearling ewes, £294; one aged ram, £210; three shearling rams, £777.
