Beltex females met a strong demand at the Northern Beltex Club’s sale at CCM Auctions’ Skipton centre on Saturday, 17 December, where averages improved on the year and Liam Swinnerton rounded off a great year by secured many of the top prices.

Leading the way at 3000gns and surpassing her sister’s 2600gns price tag at Carlisle was Lipley Ginny ET which is by the imported Iglo V/D Drie Musschen and out of the Bailey Brook Chief-sired Woodies Diamond Girl. She sold down to Wales to Arwel Davies’ Bryngroes Flock near Llanelli scanned with a pair to Borderesk Gigalo.

Arwel paid a further 1000gns for Liam’s Reserve Champion from the pre-sale show, Lipley Goldilocks, which also scanned a pair to the Borderesk Gigalo ram. Her pedigree features Glenkeen Sanders on to Lipley Elsa, a Hackney Cocky daughter.

Sticking with the Lipley Flock all the way from Cheswardine, Market Drayton, and Andrew and Becky Bishop paid 2500gns and 1500gns to take a pair home to their Bishops Flock near Eldersfield, both of which were carrying singles to Borderesk Gigalo. First up at 2500gns was a full sister to Ginny in the shape of Lipley Good Looking ET, while at 1500gns was the Buckles Dark Dawn-sired Lipley Ghost, which is out of the Tercrosset Action Man daughter, Airyolland Cassiopeia.

The Champion from Karen Shuttleworth’s local Heber Park realised 1200gns when knocked down to Daniel Thackray for his Prospect House Flock near Fewston, Harrogate. This Brickrow Floyd daughter is out of Heber Park Baby, herself by Baby, and changed hands scanned with a single to the 16,000gns Dooley Garnet bought last year.

Karen, together with husband David, also sold their Heber Park Gretta for 750gns to W and M Oldfield, Demense, Gisburn. Also carrying a single to Dooley Garnet, this Kingledores Endeavour daughter is out of the Rathbone Wippet-sired Heber Park Celest.

Another realised 1000gns when a Matt Eiger daughter from John Cowan sold to Adrian Leach, Owlers Flock, Calderdale. Carrying twins to Ainstable Ferocious, she is out of the Jewitt Admiral-sired Brickrow Dumpling from the Ayrshire-based flock.

Averages: One aged ewe, £578 (5 x £464 in 2021); 19 shearling ewes, £912 (16 x £485).
