Four females shared the top price of 450gns at the Beltex Sheep Society’s sale of in-lamb females and geld ewe lambs at McCartneys’ Worcester centre on Saturday, 3 December.
First up was a pair of shearling ewes from Evan Jones, from Smithy Fen, Cottenham, both of which sold to AT Davies for the Davies Brothers Flock near Llanon, Aberystwyth. First up was the Borxty Supreme-sired Merton Hall Gardinia which sold having scanned to Alderson’s Hugo Boss. Her dam is the Munch Conker daughter, Merton Hall Eddy’s Sister.
Matching that was the Munch Conker-sired Merton Hall Garrya which is out of the Dooley Tiger-sired Rattray’s Carnation and also ran with Alderson’s Hugo Boss.
Similarly, two ewe lambs from Dave and Joe Thornley, from Diseworth, both sold to Ryan Williams for his Albion Flock near Ludlow for 450gns each. The Clary Cosmos-sired Dooley Heavenly is out of Dooley Tawny, herself by the imported Jef V/D Drie Musschen ram, while Dooley Helenor is by Airyolland Nailer and out of Dooley Cordela, this time by the imported Dean V/H Vrijbos ram.
Averages: Five shearling ewes, £416; six ewe lambs, £336.
