4th December 2021
A small offering of Beltex females met a steady trade at the Beltex Sheep Society’s sale at McCartneys’ Worcester centre on Saturday, 4 December.
Leading the entry at 480gns was Goldsmith Forever Twins from Tom Goldsmith and partner, Gemma Sanders, from Moseley Road, Hallow. Sired by Langlands Dynamo and out of the Smart Ass Wise Guy daughter, Goldsmith Baby Maddie, she sold to the team at Stonegrove Livestock, New Inn Lane, Shrawley, carrying twins to the 2800gns Vicky’s Ferrari.
Tom and Gemma also sold their one-crop ewe, Goldsmith East Coast USA, for 450gns to the Mutch family for their Heath Holm Flock near Witney, Oxford. Again scanned with a pair to Vicky’s Ferrari, her pedigree features Muirton Bare Back on to another Wise Guy daughter in the shape of Goldsmith California.
Another matched that 450gns when Evan Jones’ Merton Hall Flowering Buttercup, a Broughton Dalbeattie daughter from the flock at Smithy Fen, Cottenham, sold to R Colbourne, Headby, Thatcham. Bred from Coleshill Buttercup, a Lyonpark Thunder daughter, she changed hands in lamb with a pair to Merton Hall Get On.
Selling to E Farmer, Kington, Worcester, for 420gns was the dearest from Scott Howell, Dunhampton, Stourport-on-Severn. That was Scotts Fantastic ET which is by the imported Magnolia de Noblehaye and out of Scotts Darling, herself by Cochrane’s Nimrod. She sold having ran with Scotts Godfather.
Averages: One aged ewe, £473 (six x £480 in 2020); 12 shearling ewes, £356 (13 x £416); one ewe lamb, £184 (two x £284).
