Titanium Team Take Top Spot at Aberystwyth Show

Despite the wet weather and ongoing bluetongue concerns, the Beltex section at Aberystwyth and Ceredigion County Show, which this year hosted the Welsh National Show, drew an impressive entry. With over 800 sheep entered across the show and a strong Beltex turnout, exhibitors and spectators made the most of a great day’s showing.

Taking the top honours in the Beltex ring was Titanium Kiss Me Quick ET, a classy shearling ewe from WJ & RM Jerman of Penycrug Farm, Builth Wells. Born on 05/02/2024, she is sired by Lipley High Flyer ET and out of Brilley Hotpants ET. Exhibitor Jamie Jerman said: “She’s by my old stock sire and she’s out of my best flush ewe, which was a Corro Rambo daughter. She’s been special from day one and won first prize ewe lamb at the Royal Welsh Show last year.”

It was a successful day all round for the Jerman team, also securing second place in both the ram lamb and ewe lamb classes (for lambs born before 01/03/25).

Reserve Champion went to E. Lewis of Pen-Y-Bryn Farm, Conwy, with his eye-catching ewe lamb Gyffin Love Token ET, born 03/02/25. Sired by Langlands Epic and out of Gyffin Galway Girl ET, the lamb followed the champion as Reserve Female before being tapped out as Reserve Overall Champion.

The judge was Tom Goldsmith, who was full of praise for the stock on show. “It was a wonderful day with superb sheep on show – a real credit to the exhibitors,” he said. “I was very impressed with every single class.”

The Young Handlers class was a highlight as always, with fantastic enthusiasm from the next generation of Beltex breeders. Taking top spot was Pippa Hanford with a polished performance. Second went to Llion Harris, with Bea Burles Corbett in third and Travis Powell placing fourth – all showing real promise in the ring.

Despite the rain, the show had a strong turnout and represented the breed excellently, with the Beltex classes drawing plenty of interest ringside. The quality on display showcased the continued dedication of Welsh breeders and the strength of the sheep in the region.
